Cappadocia: houses in the rocks
Soft stone, dwellings in the slopes and rooftops from which the whole village is visible.
Cappadocia in spring means green grass on sandy stone, a blue sky and countless rooms cut into the slopes. Some houses are abandoned, but they look as if the owners had stepped out for a minute.

From a roof you can see everything: narrow streets, courtyards, slopes and terraces. The early hours are especially good, when the air is still cool and it is quiet.

The paths between the valleys are easy to walk. In spring the slopes are covered in flowers, and if you look down you can find a great deal. Take comfortable shoes and water: there is almost no shade.
